Periodic homogenization of G-equations and viscosity effects

چکیده
G-equations are well-known front propagation models in combustion and are Hamilton–Jacobi type equations with convex but non-coercive Hamiltonians. Viscous G-equations arise from numerical discretization or modeling dissipative mechanisms. Although viscosity helps to overcome non-coercivity, we prove homogenization of an inviscid G-equation based on approximate correctors and attainability of controlled flow trajectories. We verify the attainability for two-dimensional mean zero incompressible flows, and demonstrate asymptotically and numerically that viscosity reduces the homogenized Hamiltonian in cellular flows. In the case of onedimensional compressible flows, we found an explicit formula of homogenized Hamiltonians, as well as necessary and sufficient conditions for wave trapping (effective Hamiltonian vanishes identically). Viscosity restores coercivity and wave propagation. Mathematics Subject Classification: 70H20, 76M50, 76M45, 76N20 (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

Hamilton-jacobi Equations with Partial Gradient and Application to Homogenization
The paper proves a new uniqueness result for viscosity solutions of the Dirichlet problem for Hamilton-Jacobi equations of the form H(x; u; D x 0 u) = 0 in ; u = g on @; where is an open subset or R n and D x 0 u is the partial gradient of the scalar function u with respect to the rst n 0 variables (n 0 n). The main theorem states that there is a viscosity solution of the equation which is uniq...
متن کاملMultiscale Young Measures in Almost Periodic Homogenization and Applications
We prove the existence of multiscale Young measures associated with almost periodic homogenization. We give applications of this tool in the homogenization of nonlinear partial differential equations with an almost periodic structure, such as scalar conservation laws, nonlinear transport equations, HamiltonJacobi equations and fully nonlinear elliptic equations. Motivated by the application to ...

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...
متن کاملHomogenization of one-phase Stefan-type problems in periodic and random media
We investigate the homogenization of Stefan-type problems with oscillating diffusion coefficients. Both cases of periodic and random (stationary ergodic) medium are considered. The proof relies on the coincidence of viscosity solutions and weak solutions (which are the time derivatives of the solutions of an obstacle problem) for the Stefan problem. This coincidence result is of independent int...
متن کاملHomogenization results for a deterministic multi-domains periodic control problem
We consider homogenization problems in the framework of deterministic optimal control when the dynamics and running costs are completely different in two (or more) complementary domains of the space R . For such optimal control problems, the three first authors have shown that several value functions can be defined, depending, in particular, of the choice is to use only “regular strategies” or ...
